Edie Steiner's award-winning films are shown at film festivals, arts venues and educational screenings. In the 1980s, as a member of The Funnel collective, she began making experimental Super-8 films which were often accompanied by her live music performances. Later, as a member of LIFT (Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto), where she served on the Board of Directors, she began making narrative films, both dramas and documentaries.
Exhibitions include many film festivals, the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Banff Centre for the Arts; Cinematheque Ontario; Cinémathèque Québecois; Collective for Living Cinema, NY; Arsenal Kino, Berlin; and others (see CV and Film Pages on this site for detailed listings). Television broadcast includes CBC, W / WTN, Vision TV, MuchMusic and cable.
Edie Steiner's films feature her original music collaborations with Canadian artists Chip Yarwood, Malcolm Lewis, Juno Award winner Michael Phillip Wojewoda, and Australian composers Colin Offord and Daniel Rojas. Among her published works is the text for Offord's Bold New Strategies Suite (EMI International, 1999).
Photographic collections and exhibitions include Art Gallery of Ontario (New Portraits and Exposure, 1975), National Gallery of Canada photography collection, Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography, private and corporate collections (see CV for exhibitions list).

Edie Steiner is a doctoral candidate in environment and culture studies at York University, Toronto, and teaches cultural production studies and practices in Ontario colleges.
