Since the late 1990s, Edie Steiner's photography has focused on environmental themes. These include landscape details and cultural moments. Much of this work examines meanings of place in explorations of Northern Ontario sites of her childhood, and later sites of her returns there and abroad.
Edie Steiner's early (1970s) portraits are in the National Gallery of Canada and Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography permanent collections. They were published in photography jounals Impulse (1978, 1979), EXPOSURE (Art Gallery of Ontario, 1975), Impressions (1974) and Image Nation (1974). The work in this gallery is both personal images exhibited in art galleries and commissions for other artists: musicians, authors, performers and visual artists, and publication in magazines, CD album covers, book jackets and posters.
